What's new in BackSync v4.2.5

  1. XenServer Backup: BackSync supports backup of Virtual Machines available under XenServer using XenServer Plugin. BackSync provides agent-less backup of virtual machines. BackSync can be installed in any machine to backup the Virtual Machines. BackSync's XenServer plugin uses Xen API to backup the selected Guest OSes and then upload the snapshots to the backup server directly without storing the data locally.
  2. Streaming for Exchange 2007 backups: BackSync now supports streaming of Exchange server 2007 database backups (without dumping locally). Backup will be faster as data is not written locally before sending to the backup server.
  3. Hyper-V Cluster support: BackSync can now backup Hyper-V virtual machines from Clustered Hyper-V servers.
  4. SMTP Server configuration at Reseller and Customer levels: Resellers and Customers can configure their own SMTP Servers in the backup server for BackSync to send the email reports.
  5. Daily space usage report for reseller/customer/client: You can view the daily disk usage of Resellers, Customers or Clients for a specified period.

Enhancements in BackSync v4.2.5

  1. Sending backup space exceeded Email alerts to Resellers & Customers. In earlier versions only the server admin would get this report.
  2. Client level Email reports from the Backup Server.
  3. Sending Email notification to server admin on client registration in addition to sending Email notification to client.
  4. To display the list of backup jobs that runs more than 1 hour, 6 hour, etc in server dashboard.
  5. Changing some reports to AJAX load & pop-up rather than page redirection.
  6. Improving the web console search UI for easy navigation in the Backup Server side.
  7. Display the Reseller/Customer/Client list in alphabetic order rather than the saved order.

Limitations in BackSync v4.2.5

  1. For XenServer backup the backup progress window shows only the OS drive.
  2. In a Failover Hyper-V cluster environment, BackSync client will backup only those VMs that are present in that cluster server in which it is installed and will not backup VMs from the other nodes of the cluster. BackSync needs to be installed in all the Hyper-V cluster servers.
